Meet Sandy - Reserved at First, Playful at Heart
Sandy is initially a little reserved, but once she’s settled she becomes playful, sweet, and engaging. She enjoys attention and interaction, especially once she trusts her environment.
Sandy has met young children (4 and 7) and responded positively and enthusiastically. She can become a bit excitable, so supervision and calm handling will help her succeed in a family home. Pending successful introductions she has the potential to live with children.
She travelled well on a recent trip to the country park — a great sign for future adventures. Sandy was strong on the lead in the busy, stimulating environment with lots of dogs around. In familiar, quieter settings (like her kennel walks), her lead manners are much better, showing she can walk nicely once she’s comfortable and not overwhelmed.
Around non greyhound breeds she becomes animated and over interested, indicating she needs:
o Continued, structured socialisation
o Controlled exposure to dogs of different sizes and shapes
o An adopter willing to work on calm behaviour around other breeds
Sandy could live with a male greyhound. She Cannot live with cats or other breeds of dog. She would suit a home committed to ongoing socialisation and training
Overall Sandy is a lovely, affectionate girl with a lot of potential. Her excitement around other breeds isn’t unusual for a greyhound coming straight from a kennel environment — it’s something that improves with patient, positive exposure. Her good behaviour with children, her ability to settle once she knows a routine, and her sweet, playful nature make her a really promising companion for the right home.
