rAINBOW BRIDGE
Sponsored in memory of some of the most beautiful "people" that have played a huge part in my life.
To our dearest Elsa and Gemma, both taken from us far too soon, and our dearest Gubby taken a week short of his 13th birthday. We think
of them every day and have our little Millie who is now 12 to comfort us.
With the love we have for them they will never really leave us but be in our hearts forever.

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Lois
01/8/2010-28/3/2024.
Lois was the most gentle and friendly greyhound with some ridiculous quirks that made us laugh and made us sometimes shake our heads.
Her laps of her feeding bowl before she would eat and then reversing out of the kitchen after eating rather than walking forward left us asking why!
The most loyal companion who was simply the best advert for Greyhounds and was loved by everyone who met her and will be missed by so many.
Our hearts are broken but we know you had a wonderful life and didn’t suffer at the end but there is a huge gap and will be forever.
Now go run and make sure it’s forward as you will get there quicker.
We love you Lois xxx

Ivy
Hi all at Croftview
I hope you will remember sweet little Ivy, who we adopted from Croftview back in September 2019 along with old Eddie (War Eagle). Sadly, we only had Eddie's dignified and charming company for 10 months but he made himself at home really quickly. Now we are deeply saddened to let you know that we had to let our sweet little Ivy go 12/03/24. She had cancer of the spleen which had metastasised to her lungs. So unfair, she was just ten years old and had the sweetest, friendliest nature. She got along with dogs of all shapes and sizes and lived in comfortable harmony with Eddie and then Ozzie (Timmy when at Croftview). Ivy showed anxious, nervy Oz how to be a pet, she was so chilled and confident and Oz looked to her when in doubt and to be the tester for new food ! Ivy had tendonectomies on each of her 3 good legs so she could at last enjoy corn-free walking and she enjoyed her off-lead walks in the fields and woods near us. We miss her so much; she was a joy to have with us and she had the softest fur - everyone commented on it. We will scatter her ashes on a fine day in the woods. Enclosed a few pics of Ivy with Ed and Ivy with Oz.
Kind Regards and Thanks,
Dawn, John and Ozzie

Daisy
Dear Stacey and all at Croftview who knew Daisy it is with great sadness I have to tell you that my beautiful gentle girlie crossed over Rainbow bridge on 20th August 2023 1 month shy of her 12th Birthday and just over 5 years of living with me.
My first visit to Croftview I came to look for a dog of younger years and my biggest ask on that day was for a Harvel hound that could potentially be cat friendly as back then I had 2 cats - I was shown the dogs in the kennels by Alison and whilst looking at the dogs she made a point of telling me about Daisy who had been bought back the day before after living with a family for 5 years and she had also lived with cats (she was 6) and so began the story of Daisy in my life.
I will be forever thankful for you making a point of telling me about and showing me Daisy and my heart filled with joy at having the privilege of rehoming her although 5 months on from her passing this is so difficult and heart breaking to type through the tears but something I wanted to do for her and myself.
Once I said I would like to rehome Daisy she was reserved and I went home to make Daisy's wish list for things she would need - she was a truly spoilt girl, such a gentle girlie - elegant - the kindest eyes ( almost human) and a beautiful soul - not a bad bone in her body.
Daisy lived with 2 cats when she first came to the home and showed nothing but love for them and them for her - a family members cat was adopted at the beginning of 2023 making 3 and Daisy took it all in her stride to win her over too - which she did, and I think they all miss her too.
Daisy was a dream with any small animals ( squirrels etc) and other dogs when out on our walks and her 2 best friends that she got to know were Coco and Teddy ( Cockerpoo's) .
Everyone that met Daisy fell in love with her beautiful nature she would do a little bound of happiness up to people she knew and say hello - have a lean against her favourites and enjoy all the fuss and love and maybe the odd treat they gave her.
Daisy loved nothing more than snuggling on the sofa with me for cuddles - a belly and ear rub and a snooze - my companion when I wasn't well - a cold wet nose on my face and then her head snuggled into my neck to make sure I was ok and let me know she was there.
She loved doing the odd zoom or two now and then and loved having a run about in a safe enclosure and then home for her favourite pastime of all sleeping.
There is so much more that I can say, and I will always have a story to tell about her she fitted in this home perfectly and it felt as though she had been here more years than she had.
There is a huge empty space in my heart and my life but I am also happy and content in the knowledge that Daisy had the best life here with love and happiness, and she also gave love and happiness to all who met and knew her.
My beautiful Daisy run free over rainbow bridge until we meet again you are forever in my heart, and I will never forget you.
Croftview thank you once again for introducing the gentle soul Daisy who melted my heart from day one.
Kind Regards
Karen Botevyle-Carter

Ranger
Dear Cheryl,
Sadly we had to say goodbye to Ranger after 8 wonderful years with us.

Louis
Hi Cheryl & all at Croftview.
I write with the sad news that Louis has left us. He suddenly developed pancreatitis and wasn't responding to treatment. He looked really unwell one morning, as if he'd had enough.
It was a tough decision. We're consoling ourselves with the knowledge that Louis had a great 10 years with us.
See you soon.
Best wishes, Karen, Rod

Spirit
Dear Cheryl and Stacey
You may remember us – we have had 4 Greyhounds from you over 14 years:
- Rocky age 2 ¼ (a big brindle)
- Gael 3 (a blue who had been hare coursing)
- Charlie 9 whose owner had died & been with you 18 months (huge black & white)
- Spirit 2 ¼ (a little brindle).
Four years ago we moved up to Yorkshire with only Spirit left. She settled in quickly and loved being a Yorkshire doggie making lots of friends out walking and in the ‘Local’, the Old Cock pub.
She has been a great companion during Lockdown, utterly devoted to us and anxious to please.
After developing a slight persistent limp we took her to the Vet – an X-ray showed a large invasive tumour round the top joint of her left leg. In spite of sedatives and pain relief it galloped over 10 days so we had no alternative but to say ‘goodbye’ -in spite of being brave she was constantly whimpering. She had a lovely last day (she had stopped eating hard biscuits/treats) so lots of cuddles and treats - sausages and a whole pack of Ham!
She has left a huge hole in our lives. Greyhounds are such a beautiful breed, so gentle and loving and take up little room, loving nothing more than curling up on the settee in the evenings with you.

Ellie
Dear All, some very sad news, our treasured family member Ellie fell peacefully asleep.
She had a bad couple of nights and very unsteady on her feet, not being able to get up or lie down. We felt it was the kindest thing to do for her.
Ellie will be greatly missed by us all, leaving a huge hole in our lives. 😰 Dawnie and Keith xxxx

Hero
To all at Croftview who knew and loved Hero,
It is with great sadness that we write to let you know that unfortunately Hero passed on Monday 5th June 2023 at just over 8 years old and 4.5 wonderful years with us.
We were hooked as soon as we met and he has held a very special place in our heart ever since. We are so glad we were able to give him such a comfy, cosy home - he certainly seemed to enjoy his retirement! Particularly having his own sofa and cuddles with "Cameron bear" the big cuddly toy that became his security blanket, very handy on trips away!
Hero's gentle, lovable, cuddly nature made him a hit with everyone he met and he loved them all equally. He then remembered them every time and met them with an even bigger reaction! This is why we loved being able to take him back to see you all to get his nails clipped, something we all know he didn't love having done but he did love going back to see you all!
Over time he even built lovely friendships with both our tortoise and his "cousin" a little Jack Russell! Despite the huge size difference he was even bossed around by both of them from time to time! A testament to his kind and respectful nature! He was exactly the same when he met children, went all calm and zen (even more than usual), making them feel calm too!
He won everyone round in seconds, could clear a room just as quickly with his smells and had some of the best sleeping faces and positions ever! A dog who despite his size swore he was a lap dog and loved being a bit of a hot water bottle cuddled up on cold nights in.
Hero our gorgeous boy, you will be sorely missed by all who knew you and our home won't be the same without you!

Pennie
It’s with a broken heart to say that we lost Pennie.
She loved you guys at the kennels and thank you for looking after her so well and giving us the opportunity to give her our home & having such a sweet soul share our lives with.

Belle
Belle was very special to me. She was the first pet dog I've owned and introduced me to the wonderful world that is greyhound ownership.
She was the most gentle of creatures, so pretty, so docile and was the perfect companion.
Belle was mentally so strong, she only did what she wanted. She was paralysed in all legs January from a stroke but that wasn't her end, with extreme effort and determination from Belle we got her back walking and an eventual return to normality and enjoyed a wonderful holiday to the Lake District.
Unfortunately a few months later a freak break to her leg to which she never made it out of hospital following complications meant her time in this world was tragically cut short.
She made it to 7 years and 5 months and was with me just short of 3 years. I like to think she had the most comfortable 3 years possible and knew just how I loved and cared for her.
She was my first greyhound and will always hold a significantly special part in my heart ♥
RIP Belle, gone but never forgotten!

Hobo
Dear Stacey and all at Croftview who knew Hobo,
We are very sorry to let you know that lovely gentle Hobo has passed away. He was a couple of weeks off his 11th birthday which would have been on 17th March.
He was such a lovely funny boy and he was healthy up until two weeks before he went. His passing was very peaceful and we are so lucky to have known him.
He chose us by licking my husband's hand behind his back through the bars of his pound and we have been so glad he did!
Rascal
It is with a very heavy heart that we are writing to let you know that we had to say good bye to Rascal.
We adopted her from you in October 2013. I know that we are biased but she has been the most fantastic greyhound ever.
If you remember we came to get a black girl but took Rascal for a walk whilst waiting for another to come back, she totally fell for us and vice versa and the deal was done. It was only afterwards that we realised that Martyn had only ever bet on one greyhound in his life and it was her, he placed the bet because her racing name was Baba Oriley and he is a Who fan and that is his favourite song. She lost that Race and so technically owed him a Fiver. Well we were honoured that she chose us to share her retirement with, and she was perfect from day 1, well behaved, loving, cuddly, but living up to her name of “Rascal” with cheeky ways such as following us up the hall at walk time biffing us up the bum to get a move on, or play bowing when you were trying to get her coat on, and even swearing at you when you took her out in the wet. She was a firm favourite in the area, and everyone loved getting Rascal cuddles.
For me specifically she gave me confidence to talk to people that we met whilst walking. During last year in particular I have either been on Furlough or working from home. So as Martyn is a key worker, and therefore continued to work, she kept me sane, giving me plenty of cuddles, making me leave my desk to take her out and even appearing on a few Zoom calls. For Martyn she patiently used to put up with him singing to her (and no he is not a typical Welshman in that respect) and totally worshipped him, running to the door when he came in, then going back to her bed waiting for a cuddle, often before he remembered to kiss me.
Whilst she had been gradually getting slower and a bit stiff, she was still loving life, and had a clean bill of health when she had her Old Age Checkup just after Christmas, but on Thursday she went off her food , and Friday she was definitely not right, it almost seemed like she told us it was time, no real cuddles, and no waggy tail. The vet saw us straight away, and unfortunately it seems that she had a very aggressive form of cancer. So they suggested the kindest course of action was sadly to let her go peacefully. It was not an easy decision but we had always promised her that we would always put her welfare above ours.
We are totally devastated, but as we had made appoint of stopping to say hello to all of you at some of the shows we felt it important to let you know.
So please find attached a few photos taken in happier times, to remind us all of what a fantastic girl she was.
Daisy
Sadly, we have to tell you that our beautiful Daisy ( called Dotty in your kennel and Fivestar Cabra on the track at Sittingbourne) passed away. She was put to sleep by our vets in Beckenham with us both there, as usual, talking to her, letting her see us, stroking her as she went off.
Daisy was 11 years 10 months old so we are happy to have given her a good family life since March 2013.
Molly
We are so sad to let you know that we have lost our darling girl Molly yesterday
She was only 10 years old. Our house is empty without her presence
She was
the sunshine in our lives
The sweetest girl you can imagine.
Thanks for letting her come to Belgium 8 years ago.
