Meet Missy — the gentle, grey faced sweetheart who just wants a quiet place to exhale.
Missy is coming up to 7 years old and kennel life simply isn’t for her. Busy daytime routines leave her feeling overwhelmed, and she shows her worry through panting and vocalising. But once the visitors go home and the noise settles, Missy finally relaxes — curling up on her bed beside her best friend Skye and letting the world soften around her.
Her panting, vocalising, and stress during busy hours aren’t signs of a “problem dog” — they’re signs of a sensitive girl who’s overwhelmed by noise, movement, and unpredictability. The moment the world quiets down, she decompresses. That tells you her issue isn’t behavioural, it’s environmental.
Missy leans on Skye’s calm, steady presence to help her feel settled. Out and about, Missy is the confident one, but in the kennel, she relies on Skye’s quiet reassurance to stay balanced. It’s a lovely bond, and it tells you everything about Missy’s sensitive, thoughtful nature. She borrows Skye’s steadiness to stay grounded. That kind of reliance is common in anxious dogs, and it doesn’t make her weak — it makes her self-aware. She knows what helps her cope.
She may be overlooked because of her grey muzzle, her kennel anxiety, her corns, and her little greyhound “whoosh”( similar to a heart murmur) — but none of these things define her.
The irony is, once she’s out of the kennel and with people, she’s affectionate, tactile, and eager to connect. She will push into you for a hug when at her level — this tells you, she’s not aloof, she’s not unreachable. She’s just waiting for the right person to slow down long enough to meet her where she is.
On walks, Missy is nosey, curious, and full of personality. She zigzags, she sniffs, and she can be strong on the lead — not out of mischief, but because she’s excited to explore the world at her own pace.
Missy is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can feel settled. Someone who sees past the surface and recognises the loving, loyal companion waiting underneath. Missy's ideal home will include another steady greyhound for company and to provide balance in her life.
She’s not a “project dog”. She’s a sweetheart who’s simply in the wrong environment for her temperament. If you’re the kind of person who believes the best dogs are the ones who just need a little time and kindness, Missy will be your girl.
