Kray — The Gentle Giant With Freckles and Heart

Kray may be one of the larger lads in the kennel, but at around 36kg he carries his size with a soft, easy confidence. His photos often show off his sleek black coat, but in person you notice the delicate scatter of white freckles that make him wonderfully distinctive — a handsome boy with a touch of stardust.

What makes Kray special is his calm, steady presence. He’s happy to greet visitors, enjoys a good walk, and shares his kennel peacefully with Sandy. He doesn’t demand attention, but he’s always there, quietly taking everything in.

Despite being new to kennel life, Kray has already joined the Riverside Country Park Walk — his first big greyhound group outing. He travelled beautifully, and once Sandy demonstrated the art of car hopping, Kray followed suit like a pro. At the park he showed mild curiosity toward non greyhounds but was far more fascinated by the birds, watching them with bright-eyed interest.

After exercise, Kray is usually the first to stretch out and claim the comfiest bed. He settles quickly, relaxes deeply, and gives off that “I’ve earned this” energy that only greyhounds can truly master.

Kray recently met young children (aged 4 and 7) and absolutely soaked up the attention. He’s gentle, patient, and clearly enjoys being fussed over. He has the potential to live with children pending successful introductions.

He’s a keen eater and never misses the chance to show enthusiasm at mealtimes. That eagerness will make training and bonding even easier.

Kray’s Ideal Home

• Could live with: A female greyhound

• Cannot live with: Male greyhounds or cats

• Happy to: Walk with male greyhounds on group outings

• Needs: Ongoing socialisation with dogs of all shapes and sizes

Kray is the kind of dog who will thrive with gentle guidance, routine, and a family who appreciates his calm nature and subtle charm. He’s already shown he can adapt, learn, and enjoy new experiences — he just needs the right people to help him continue that journey.
